Voice Capture

Ummless captures audio from your microphone using the system's native audio engine. Speech is processed through the Whisper model directly on your device. No audio leaves your machine for transcription.

After Whisper transcribes your speech, the raw text is sent to Claude for refinement. The refinement process respects the presets you've selected, applying transformations like tone adjustment, formatting, grammar correction, and domain-specific restructuring.

Streaming mode shows the refined text appearing in real time as Claude generates it.

Preset System

Presets are the core of Ummless. Each preset is a set of instructions that tells Claude how to transform your text. You can use built-in presets, create custom ones, and stack multiple presets together.

Global Hotkey

Press Cmd+Shift+Space from anywhere to open the recording palette. It appears as an always-on-top floating window, so you can start recording without leaving your current app.

The hotkey is configurable in settings.

Tray App

Ummless lives in your macOS menu bar. There's no dock icon — it stays out of your way until you need it. Click the tray icon to access settings, view recent sessions, or open the recording palette.

Dashboard

Your web dashboard at ummless.com/dashboard provides a full overview of your activity:

Session history with full transcripts and refined text
Preset management (create, edit, delete)
Settings configuration
Account management

Real-Time Sync

Changes made on the web dashboard are synced to the desktop app in real time, and vice versa. Create a preset on the web, and it's immediately available on your desktop. Record on your desktop, and the session appears in your dashboard instantly.
